Kia Ora!

I can’t believe people visit Rotorua and miss this (I am guilty too, haha). Free geothermal waterfalls, naturally heated, rich in minerals that soothe your muscles and joints… and somehow still incredibly scenic? It almost feels too good to be true.

Make sure you add Kerosene Creek to your itinerary. The name gives it away, yes, there’s a strong Sulphur smell, and it can be a bit intense at first, especially if you’re not used to it. After living in Rotorua for nearly four years, I barely notice it anymore, but I remember how surprising it was the first time.

Still, don’t let that put you off. Once you settle in, the warmth of the water and the peaceful forest setting quickly take over. It’s one of those simple, natural experiences that feels like a real gift, raw, relaxing, and completely unforgettable.

Pure magic.

Enjoy the soak, and I’ll catch you in the next travel story! ✨
